How to hide the green fence in a rental?

So another project that I have been playing around with but looking for something to cheap and easy to install to hide the green fence. It's a rental property so would have to be something easily removed if need be.

Should I move the pond to different location? Add garden edging? Different or more plants? Any advice would be lovely please.

Re: any advice on how to hide the green fence

Hi @Taylamarie01,

Thank you for your question about how to conceal your fence.

Perhaps you could use some shade sail to conceal the fence. It could be attached to the posts using Coolaroo 25m Lacing Cord Kit With Needle so that it can be removed when needed.

This would soften and change the look and create a nicer backdrop for the garden area you are creating.

You might have to move things around a bit to make them fit, but considering you want to cover the fence and find a new home for your pot plants, perhaps you could put some pavers in the garden area and sit your pot plants on them. This, combined with the shade sail would certainly conceal the fence well and create a lovely back drop for your yard.

Allow me to tag @Dave-1, @mich1972 and @R4addZ to see if they have any ideas.

Let me know what you think.

Re: any advice on how to hide the green fence

Good afternoon @Taylamarie01 Love your backyard ! Because it’s a rental, maybe just add like bamboo or brush screening across it and it can be removed if you move. Also love the metal screens too. Not sure if you could ask your landlord if you could possibly grow some climbing plants on there ? Good luck and I hope there will be more ideas shared here for you 🌿😃

Re: any advice on how to hide the green fence

Good Evening @Taylamarie01

I am thinking of some lattice hung on the fence itself.

Using Taskmaster 180 x 100 x 6mm Steel S Hook - 4 Pack

you could hang the lattice

Lattice Makers 2400 x 1200mm Treated Pine Lattice

Off the top rail of your fence. Depending on how you want (a little high so the lattice is above the fence, level with the fence or even just bellow the fence top) You could go horizontal or vertical. I like the horizontal look and then grow shubbery or move those white puts against the fence to form a bottom screen to draw your eyes to the lattice work.

Being a steel railed fence I would expect it to carry a little more weight so as long as you dont hang anything else off the lattice it should be fine.

If you want a particular colour you could lay a tarp down or paint sheet and spray paint the lattice first. It would match your layout nicely.

I would use at least 3 hooks if you have the panel horizontal (better with 4) or go for 3 if vertical. Lattice does like to sag without support but hanging it maybe a third down so its level with your fence top it hopefully will hold its shape.
