The Bunnings Workshop community can help with your home improvement projects.
Morning Workshop Community Friends. I love growing edibles in the garden but also been growing them in large pots.
One of the Raised Garden Planters I have started, I’m super excited to share with you how easy it is to grow some seasonal vegetables and herbs.
I planted up this one about 4 weeks ago.
It’s one seedling punnet of each - Eggplant Bonica , Cucumber Patio Snacker ( to cascade over the side ) and Sweet Basil as a Companion Plant to attract more Pollinators. Not only that, the strong scent of Basil will help deter insects. So far so good 😊 I have now added my trusty old clothes horse as a trellis support for the Cucumbers 😆 but you can just let them grow over the sides.
I planted up this bed with two bags of Baileys Premium Potting Mix which filled it up perfectly. Using a Premium blend is the best start for Container growing.
As with all my edibles as I’m planting, I added a good couple of handfuls of Richgro Dolomite Lime to the soil. This is really important as they need Calcium.
I have been liquid feeding fortnightly with Charlie Carp.
These Raised Beds are great for small Courtyards , Small Backyards , Balconies. It’s even great if you just want to start off with a small project. I hand water it every day and on the hot days an extra water in the afternoons.
Everything purchased at Bunnings.
Thank you for tagging me. I also appreciate your advice re the spacing and size of drill holes if needed. Now that I have that info, I will buy one as I've always wondered if the drainage, or lack of, could be an issue. Thank you.
