How to build a small retaining wall?

Hi,

My fence was installed before we got a chance to lay the soil/stones. I don’t want to put the stones right against the fence and it only needs 100mm in height.

Retaining wall or h4 sleepers screwed through the palings onto the posts ?

Re: Small retainer

Hello @Bolton

Thanks for sharing your question about setting up a small retainer. You can use either sleepers or 100 x 16mm 4.8m Edging H4 Treated Pine Sawn Wet. Both items are rated for direct soil contact. The advantage of using the sleeper is that it is higher and will therefore do a better job of keeping the stones in one area.

If you need further assistance, please let us know.

Re: Small retainer

Great, would I be able to put them directly onto the fence post as it’s only retaining 50-75mm and for 300mm wide as the ground only slopes that amount along the fence line.

Re: Small retainer

Hi @Bolton

Just double check your measurements and mounting points to make sure everything will be anchored properly.
