Hi Everyone, just rebuilding the home orchard after it burnt down in 2021..
I'm using retic poly to sheath the wire to protect the netting. So I purchased 50m and 100m rolls of 13mm and 19mm retic black poly from Bunnings. Just wanted to let you all know how disappointed I was to find the 100m roll 3m SHORT and ALL the 50m rolls were 1.5m SHORT. Measurement taken properly using surveyor's measuring wheel. MAterials laid out in the sun to straighten and make it easier to run 50m plain wire through it. This necessitated buying extra materials $$$, joiners and of course, Bunnings Midland wasn't interested in credits. I would have had to roll everything up, go back to the shop, unroll multiple fresh rolls IN THE SHOP to check for correct length. Just giving everyone a heads up to make sure you're not paying for what you're NOT getting. Its been a real hassle and time-wasting to make extra trips because the packaging was short.

50m and 100m rolls of 19mm black retic poly
of course the extra joiners because of the above mentioned packaging "shortfall"
2.5mm plain high-tensile fence wire
My ute to get the extra materials because of the packaging "shortfall" (see above)
Box cutter knife
Hacksaw
Wire cutters
Leather gloves (wire was hot to work with)
Spinning jenny
Laid out the black retic poly in the sun to get the coil twists out and straighten it to make it much easier to run the wire through
MEASURED the black poly when I discovered that I was unable to get 4 x 25m lengths out of a 100m roll. Did the same checks on the 50m rolls and they were all short supplied.
Wasted time stopping the job, driving down the hill to Midland, spending EXTRA on materials, unhelpful staff, waited ages in the queue at the returns counter (for other stuff) because staff were too busy standing around in pairs talking with each other while customers waiting and 1 girl manning the counter on her own and doing a really lovely job of helping an elderly customer while her teammates ignored us.
Have run the wiring, now waiting for the EWP to come and then install the poletop caps, s/steel eyebolts (another story in itself) and eventual lifting up of the bird netting. Have installed the repalcement posts and looking forward to cooler weather and new trees to plant come spring. Hooray.
