My gardenia,recently transferred from ground to pot, needs shaping. When should I do this? Do cuttings grow easily from the prunings

Too early to prune just yet. You'll want to prune after it completely finishes flowering in autumn. When you prune it you can definitely take some cuttings and give them to friends or plant more in your garden. Bev
