Hi
in recent month, the middle 3 trees leaves become yellow and less and less. what can i do to make them green again? should i cut all those dead branches?
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @leo2. It's a pleasure to have you join us, and many thanks for the question about your sickly Murrayas.
In order to diagnose and treat these affected plants, we need to diagnose what has caused this problem. Identifying any issues that these plants have is key. Yellowing of leaves in Murraya is typically a sign of nutrient or water stress. When was the last time you fed the hedge, and could this particular area of the hedge have any drainage issues? If you've been experiencing a prolonged period of wet weather, these plants' roots could be saturated if drainage is inadequate.
If you haven't fertilised for a while, you can apply some Blood and Bone, and cow manure; some Seasol wouldn't hurt either. If these plants make it through the next period, you'll need to establish a regular feeding regime with something like Osmocote landscape.
Cutting the dead branches back can be done, but addressing the dieback cause at this stage is the biggest concern. I notice you have pebbles under these plants and no grass, unlike the rest of the hedge. Could you let me know what's going on there? Did someone hand weed the area and then lay pebbles? I am concerned that someone might have sprayed a weed killer on the grass under those plants, damaging them.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
