Best plants for balcony gardening?

I live on 4th floor west facing balcony on gold coast. What plants can survive this aspect? Flowers ?

Does your balcony get any direct sunlight during the day? If it does then you can plant anything you like depending on the season. However, if it only gets ambient light and is in shade most of the time here is a handy link to: Shade-loving plants for your garden.
