How to attach a chest of drawers to a brick wall?

I have a chest of drawers which I want to attach to a brick wall in my garage.

I want to check with the experts that my method will be 100% secure.

Drill 4 x 6mm pilot holes in the bricks (2 top & bottom)

Attached the Anka screw with the washer through the back of the cabinet into the brickwork.

I realise the 50mm Anka may be overkill, but they were left over from another job.

Thank you.

Re: How to attach a chest of drawers to a brick wall?

Hi @BEG,

What thickness is the back of the unit? Also, will the unit be sitting on the lower cabinetry or suspended in the air?

If the unit continues to sit on the lower cabinetry and the back panel is at least 10mm, then your method would be suitable.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Hi Mitchell, the chest of drawers will be sitting on the lower cabinet and the back is less than 10 mm.

So it looks like I’m good to go. 🙂

Thanks so much for your reply.

Have a great weekend!

Hello @BEG

Please don't forget to post a photo update of your project. I'm sure our members will be keen to see the cabinet once it's in place.

I will Eric. It’s on the back burner for a couple of days.

Hi @BEG

When you ready to go ahead, I would recommend fixing under the cabinet a support runner to the brickworkThis will provide additional support to the masonry fasteners with the load of the cabinet weight as well as the movement of pulling the drawers in/out. And yes definably use the Ankers you already have. Overkill is better than under.

Re: How to attach a chest of drawers to a brick wall?

Hi @Nailbag, thank you for your input.

The chest of drawers is sitting on the top of a larger cabinet.

Do you think this will offer enough additional stability rather than a support runner?

Providing that the chest of drawers are steady and stable in place, I would think so @BEG
