Any simple ideas for suitcase storage in garage?

1000027962.jpg hi guys, any ideas for storing suitcases in garage? I have the brick wall that I want to make use of and thought using a wall mount storage shelf. Any better ideas?

Hi @srik42,

Thank you for your question.

There are a variety of options that would work, such as floating shelves or wire rack shelving.

You might like to start by checking out our Top 10 most popular storage projects for some inspiration.

This could be an opportunity to design a storage solution for more than just your luggage, in which case the Rack-it system could be a fantastic option for your space. Have a look at the Modular Garage Storage System From Rack It and then have a play with their Rack It Planner to see what you like.

If you wanted to keep it simple, you could utilise the brick wall by bolting angle brackets to it and then attaching a timber or chipboard top to act as a shelf. This would be a great option if you'd like to still use the floor space for other things.

Allow me to tag @Dave-1 and @JoeAzza for their thoughts.

Let me know what you think.

Good morning @srik42

I was thinking of a very complicated raise and lower pully system idea and then I spotted the existing shelving to the right in your photo.

So first question, How far off the wall can you come off?

Second question, Is their a height limitation?

Id actually be tempted to source the same style shelving you already have. Im not sure if you can get a shorter length to fit between your brick pillars tho.

If there isnt a shortened version of the "Rack it" system then id suggest these Carinya 600 x 450mm Galvanised Heavy Duty Straight Stay Bracket in line with the existing shelves either side. This way you could purchase a timber length that could span from one shelf, across the gap to the other shelf.  Id suggest say three shelves all up with a decent gap from the floor to the first shelf for super heavy items.

If you can then you could also install boards that cover the distance between the two shelves or leve it for tall items to be leant against the wall (even a piece of timber between the say second shelf down to stop brooms. long stuff falling forward.
