I used some 42x30 pine, 19mm dowel, Walnut coloured stain, and 4x of the 10kg spreading wall hooks.
Made a frame and used a spade bit to drill holes 150mm apart and about 3/4 way through the timber. Chopped some dowels to 500mm and others to 400mm, placed into which ever holes you desire but not glued in. This way I can move the dowel to different holes as required depending on the type of model aircraft (some wings come off easy, other wings are a pain to remove)
My only beef is why using a 19mm spade bit to drill holes for 19mm dowel ends up with dowels that are a bit loose. I would have figured they'd be a tight fit but a few coats of stain on everything seems to have tightened it up.
I still have to stain some of the dowel but other than that it's all finished
Looks brilliant @Bliv. Well done.
Many thanks for sharing this terrific project with us. Looking forward to seeing more of your handiwork soon. What's next on your project list?
Jason
painting inside the house and sanding the wooden skirting boards and finishing the front yard.
how about you, Jason?
Good stuff @Bliv, let us know if you need a hand with anything.
I've got more painting to do and a big clean up under the house.
Jason
I could use a hand levelling the front yard ready for new lawn.
are you free next Saturday?
