An old weatherboard shed converted into a replica saloon from the old wild west using stained PermaPine palings and featuring a recycled timber bar.

The project

I bought our place in Gawler in 2018 and it had an old green weatherboard shed in the yard. We used it for storage until deciding what we could do with it. We turned it into an old western saloon. Just about everything we have done with this shed has been obtained from Bunnings.

Steps

Step 1

Clean all the walls and have them ready to panel with the PermaPine palings which we nail gunned and screwed into position.

Step 2

Stained all the walls to make it look old school, saloon rustic.

Step 3

We took the old verandah off the back of our home, cut it down to size and put it on the front of the shed.

Step 4

Next we recycled the pavers from the rear of the house and used those for the path across the front of the saloon and made the steps leading to the saloon out of Pine sleepers and recycled pavers.

Step 5

We then lined the walls with V-board which we lightly stained. We did the ceiling in PermaPine paiings and stained to match the exterior. We built the bar out of recycled timbers and used iron.

Step 6

We dressed the walls with shelves which are cut down wine boxes and the floors are timber laminate.

Step 7

We called our saloon the One Shot Saloon as life can be just that if you don't make the most of it.
