This clever little project uses metal clothes hangers to create a display for six pot plants with a very small footprint.

First iteration.

Second version, with an extra coat hanger on each side and thin aluminium wire to serve as the holders. This enables the ferris wheel to accommodate taller plants.

To join the hangers I used an electric soldering iron designed for gutters. I scraped the protective coating off the hanger metal, then soldered. The joins are holding up well.

Great news, some Bunnings stores sell these coat hangers, with the copper colour.

Hello @Jamespeter100

Thank you very much for the update on the copper-coloured clothes hanger. It's great to see that you've managed to get some hangers for your project. Does that mean you'll be making more Ferris wheels? Are you building something new? If you are building something new, please don't forget to post an update. I'm sure our members will be keen to see what you're building next.

At the Royal Adelaide Show, I used the smaller Bunnings clothes hangers for a Ferris wheel. The base depicts the Grand parade, with succulents being led by their handlers. The floral re works at the back was too big for the wheel for a placing. Plants like to ride in wheelbarrows, rather than chairs.

St another show, that’s on in Adelaide, a flower arrangement using Bunnings wire coated in “Tom Boy Stitch”.  A piano to go with the floral arrangement also made out of wire.  The piano was made for a storm trooper figurine, but the feeling was, the storm trooper would go on to have a new owner if left in the public.

Those look amazing, @Jamespeter100! The display looks fantastic with the mini wheelbarrows and succulent parade.

How long did it take you to do all that tom boy stitching? As a child, I got hooked on french knitting and made a continuous length of around 50m. I should have sewn it into a jumper, as I suspect it would have been exceptionally warm.

Many thanks for sharing.

Mitchell

Hi @Jamespeter100,

Using the ferriswheel as a teacup holder is super cute! Very clever.
