A new toilet with a built-in sink, timber panelling and fresh paint and plaster refreshed a tired holiday home bathroom.
The guest toilet in our recently bought holiday home desperately needed some attention. Working in a space with a footprint of less than a square metre was the first challenge!
After swapping the old standard toilet suite with one that has a hand-wash basin I first applied some thin plaster and used a textured paint roller on the upper part of the walls to achieve a stippled look and cover up the previous, uneven filler patches.
This was followed by some bright white paint, rich wood stain and VJ wall panelling for a Hamptons-style wainscoting effect.
The wife took over with the finishing touches and decorations, and the end result guarantees a much more pleasant "experience".

Workshop member Stelz used fresh paint and modern touches including floating shelves, black tapware and a new doorknob to create a more welcoming guest bathroom.

Hi @Fishvince
I would really like to know how wide your room is? Is it had to wriggle beside the toilet to use the hand basin?
Many thanks for your assistance.
Sorry about the late reply @Ben2065: the room is 81cm at the widest point but there’s enough space to wash your hands.
I hope this helps 😉
