A coastal-look table created using panels and dowel, and complemented by a matching bookcase and entertainment unit to complete the room.
I made this table from one Ash utility panel, Tasmanian Oak half round dowels, 450mm round Pine panels, and bench legs available at Bunnings. I couldn’t find a long and narrow oval table to buy, and I wanted a table only 750mm wide and 1950mm long.
I took the panel and cut the oval shape using a jigsaw.
I made the table pedestals using three round Pine panels, and then attached the half round dowels to them.
I used the same timber panel for the bench seat and finished it off by varnishing with Cabot's Clear Matt Oil. And I sprayed the black bench legs with Matt White Spray Paint.
I then made a bookshelf and floating TV unit top from scrap pieces.
The Ash utility panel cost $299, and I used around 30 2.4m lengths of the Tasmanian Oak dowels, which were $17 each, so all up everything cost me around $800.
