What line trimmer do you recommend?

Battery technology has come a long way in the last 10 years. Battery line trimmers are now comparable in power to petrol machines, but with little to no maintenance required. My suggestion would be to have a look at the range of 18-volt line trimmers, with my preference being towards the Ryobi range as they have fantastic versatility with their batteries. The same battery can be used in their entire range of 18V equipment. A great lightweight option would be the Ryobi One+ 18V 25/30cm 4.0Ah Cordless Line Trimmer Kit.

If you want something with substantially more power the Ryobi 36V Brushless Line Trimmer Kit would be a great option.

I love the Ryobi one+ 18volt trimmer with the rotating head on it.

I do the normal trimming around trees etc, then flip the head over and it makes it really really easy to do driveway edges etc with the head upside down. Had mine a while now never had a issue with it at all on a fairly long driveway edging and standard quarter acre block i guess  

I used to use fairly thick line but as my aim has improved and I stopped hitting the cement so much - Ive dropped line thickness which IMO improves cutting speed but its less forgiving if you do hit the cement. 

I got a 4amphour battery which i use for all my ryobi battery tools. The 4amphour battery is enough to do all my edging, and then also be immediatly installed in a blower afterwards for blowing the driveway etc clean   (just lols) All the ryobi tools use the same battery (except the anglegrinder which plugs into wall)

Those edge lines are looking especially clean @Prawns. Very enviable indeed.
