How do you mount a TV to a wall with steel studs?

Tek Screws.jpgWhen mounting a TV on steel studs, Buildex 12-14 x 50mm Climaseal Hex Head Tek Screws are a great choice for strong and secure mounting.

If you have trouble locating the metal studs or they don't align with your bracket, consider using plasterboard fixings like Ramset Super Wallmate Toggle Anchors. Each anchor can hold up to 20kg, and four anchors would easily support a small TV.

Another option is to mount a timber panel across the studs. This spreads the weight more evenly. Though it may seem tricky, the process is similar to mounting the TV bracket itself: measure, drill, and secure the screws. A timber panel also lets you use at least three studs for added support, which is important given the weight of larger televisions.

To begin, use a stud finder to locate your steel studs and mark the positions. Measure the distance between them and choose a timber panel wide enough to span at least three studs. A 285 x 19mm 1.2m DAR Pine Premium could work well. For extra security, use Tox M8 x 100mm Heavy Duty Metal Toggle Anchors, placing at least three per stud. - MitchellMc
