To fix scratches on timber chairs, first try using Waxstixs that match the colour of your furniture.
To apply the Waxstixs, rub directly into the scratches. For better results, heat the wax slightly to help it flow into the scratches and assist in adhering to the surface. This method is an excellent starting point because it's straightforward and non-invasive.
If the Waxstixs are not effective in hiding the scratches, you will need to sand the chair down to the bare timber and re-stain. To remove the scratches and old finish, start with coarse sandpaper, such as 120-grit, and gradually work up to 240-grit for a smooth surface.
Once the surface is smooth, you can apply a stain in the colour of your choice, followed by a protective varnish finish. - EricL
