How do you clean aluminium window frames?

I suggest trying Scotch-Brite 155 x 100mm Heavy Duty Scourer Pad with dishwashing soap and water.

If the blemishes still refuse to come off, I recommend trying Gumption Paste 750g Multipurpose Cleaner along with Rocket 100g Grade 3 Coarse Steel Wool.

Remember to scrub the frame in an up and down motion. It will take some time so please be patient and keep scrubbing until the blemishes start to come off. - EricL

I do quite a bit of aluminium fabrication, and I agree with the Scotchbrite idea, but if I need to remove a certain amount of welding deposits, I hold

a dilute solution of nitric acid (this isn't as dangerous as it sounds, it is only 0.25% dilution in distilled water), most chemical suppliers will provide you with a 100ml bottle of this.

Wear a pair of decent dish-washing gloves if you use this, it won't burn you, but you will find out if you've got cuts or abrasions on your hands, it's almost like extremely strong vinegar.

And no, you can't put it on your fish and chips.......
