Re: to install bidget on close-coupled toilet with a concealed cistern lid

Hello @sau1

Thanks for your question about installing a bidet spray around your toilet. If there are no external taps near your toilet to connect the bidet spray, the installation will require linking it from inside the toilet itself. This process will involve engaging a licensed plumber, as it is both complex and requires professional expertise to ensure compliance with local plumbing regulations.

Given that you appear to have a back-to-wall toilet suite, the plumbing fittings are concealed behind the toilet, making the task more intricate. The plumber will need to assess whether it is feasible to drill through the cistern (the tank where water is stored for flushing) to create a connection point for the bidet spray. If this option is not viable due to the design or space limitations, the plumber may run a new pipe from the bottom of the toilet’s water inlet. This pipe will need to be properly secured and sealed to ensure there are no leaks.

Additionally, because bidet sprays require a direct connection to a cold-water supply, the plumber will ensure that a T-valve is installed along with an anti-backflow device. This valve allows for the spray to be connected while still providing water to the toilet cistern. It also includes a shut-off option to prevent continuous water pressure on the bidet spray, reducing the risk of leaks over time.

Overall, the process can be involved due to the hidden nature of the plumbing in back-to-wall toilets, but a skilled plumber will have the tools and knowledge to complete the job efficiently. Make sure to discuss any specific preferences or requirements you have with the plumber during the consultation.

If you need further assistance, please let us know.

Eric
