renovate bathroom

Hi, my bathroom is leaking and I want to renovate it. Since it is on the second floor. I am so worry about waterproofing. What's the best material for the walls, floors especially shower room floors?

Which is better for shower room floor shower tray or screeding?

Thank you.

Re: renovate bathroom

Hello @sydneylong

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about your bathroom.

I’d recommend reaching out to a bathroom renovator for a quote on renovating your bathroom. The only way to properly assess the extent of the damage caused by the leak is to remove the shower and inspect inside the walls. Once a thorough investigation has been done, your renovator will be able to provide a clear idea of the costs involved in redoing the bathroom. If the timber stud wall has been affected, it will be replaced with proper framing timber to ensure structural integrity, and wet area panels will be installed to provide maximum protection against moisture.

One of the most crucial aspects of the renovation will be the waterproofing. This must be carried out by a certified professional, as it requires proper application, official sign-off, and a warranty for peace of mind. When it comes to water management, using a shower tray instead of just screeding can offer an added layer of protection, helping to prevent future leaks and water damage.
