I tried to stay true to the tile removal, however, it was cemented in and no amount of care was going to stop some areas of tiles from dropping off in chunks, along with chunks of render and cement. Meanwhile, as hard and selectively as I've gone to try to chisel tiles off, they won't be budging any time soon (see on the top left of the recess tiles images for my efforts)
I can't manage a saw to cut around the tile area, nor have someone do it for me (no finances for extra help). I've looked at villaboard, and while it looks spectacular, I can't see how I could square anything up to fit together.
I guess I'm thinking that I can probably continue doing the best I can to get the tiles off and perhaps flattening/chiseling off the hard to remove cement/tile glue. And I imagine I could use some kind of cement render to fill and level out the wall? Can I do that here?... and if so, which would be the most suitable cement render to use, please?
Also noting, I removed some tiles around the edge of the bathroom floors/walls... similarly, the cement render dropped away at the bottom third of the tiles to the gully they sat in (the concrete floor is visible in the photo). I assume I would use same cement render there...
Am I heading in the right direction, please? Any advice greatly appreciated.
Just an FYI, we're not dealing with any asbestos.
