Hi Everyone,
I’m after a mixer to replace the hot/cold knobs in my shower.
I have found this conversation:
but I’m not quite sure if I can use the existing exit flex coming out of the wall (preferred) or if I have to seal that and use the exit on the new mixer unit.
Thank you
Hi @MartinB84,
Thank you for your question about replacing the hot and cold taps for your shower with a mixer.
Physically you can use the Quoss Reno Transformer Freestyle Shower Full Set which @EricL has mentioned in How to change shower taps to shower mixers, but it is not a practical solution in your situation for two reasons.
Due to the orientation of the inwall pipes, you will end up with an awkward set-up where the hose runs from the current location of the taps to the water supply point.
The second reason this would be awkward is that the top of the shower rail, which is the upper limit that the shower head can be raised to, attaches to the current water supply point, which doesn't look like it would be above head height.
Unfortunately, if you want to change your taps to a mixer, you're going to need to alter the pipes, which will require the assistance of a licenced plumber.
Let me know if you have any further questions.
Jacob
hi @MartinB84
To chime in on the discussion @JacobZ is so right the internal wall pipeing would be expensive to do not too meantion having to re build the shower walls
I Wanted a mixer but love two new ceramic taps instead and they are very good my old rubber washer taps changed water flow with water temperture and I was constanly adjusting taps.
My search lead me to and external plumbing adjustable to tap distance shower mixer but the water comes out the middle spout of the mixer and will need to travel to the shower base for water supply Via a internal shower hanging hose.
This may need a hook in the shower corner to hold the hose out of the way.
Thanks Jacob!!
I might start looking for 2 single taps instead as suggested by Jewelleryrescue, maybe something with a more modern style.
Any suggestions is welcome
thanks again 🙏🏼
