Overtightened now can't get loose - Showerhead

As the title says I can't loosen this bit on the wall. There was still some play at the wall. I know I did have the plumbers tape a bit thicker at the back when I wrapped it around and assumed that's why it wasn't getting tighter, so I brought the shifter out sound the nut for the hose holder. That got it a quarter turn only and now I can't even turn it back. What do I do? I now know I shouldn't have used a shifter.

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about your shower head mount.

I suspect that the threads have binded to the plumber's tape as you were using the shifter. Before you unwind the shower head mount, I propose putting on a Brasshards 15mm Brass Threaded Cap or similar to the outlet of the shower head mount. Its purpose is to protect the threaded portion when you use your shifter again. To unwind the shower head mount, I propose wrapping it with a cotton shirt or cloth to prevent damaging the finish. find a good spot for the shifter to anchor onto and place your hand over the shifter handle. Using your other hand gently tap the top of your hand with the heel of your palm.

This short but sudden application of force on the shower head mount should loosen it up. Please note that the head mount must turn anticlockwise to loosen it up. Please give it a go and tell us if you have any success.

Hello and thank you for the response, but I managed to get it off again by adding the hose on the outlet, which gave that extra leverage needed. Took a couple of humph humphs, but got there in the end.
