Is this spotlight installation safe?

Is this spotlight installation safe?

I had two old spotlights in the ceiling of my bathroom, which my sparky (not me; I am not a qualified electrician) removed.  I had already bought two Verve Design Phoebe lights (https://www.bunnings.com.au/verve-15w-phoebe-adjustable-led-spotlight-white_p0437889) and asked him to fit them in the holes.

The holes were too big, but he fitted a bracket of sorts so that the spotlights are suspended from the ceiling.

Someone has told me that they should not be fitted in such a way, according to the manufacturer's instructions. I understand that it would be BETTER to have filled the holes and started again, but is it dangerous in any way to have them fitted like they have been?  If so, I will get them removed and start again.

If it is not dangerous, is there something I can fit (like an O ring) to cover the gap?

Re: Installation of light

Hello @SandieR

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us and thanks for sharing your question about your bathroom lights.

If the installation manual of the Verve 15W Phoebe Adjustable LED Spotlight has a specific method of mounting, then it should be adhered to. I propose getting a second opinion from another electrician regarding the installation of your spotlight. It does not appear to be steady, and I suspect that it needs to be anchored properly to the ceiling.

Please note that any electrical work must be carried out by a licensed electrician for safety and compliance.

If you need further assistance, please let us know.

Eric
