Is it safe to cover these spigots in my bathroom sink drain pipes?

Is it safe to cover these spigots in my bathroom sink drain pipes?

So I have a drain pipe with a open spigot for my bathroom sink. I notice a drainage smell coming from the open spigot.. (which I presume to be normal byproduct of the waste that goes down there)

Just wondered if it's safe to cover these up ? It's not going to cause some kind of gas build up and explode my pipe? Could I DIY?

Hi @chibsqt,

Thank you for your question and welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, it is fantastic to have you with us.

There are absolutely no issues capping this outlet as they are manufactured with the opening covered, requiring them to be drilled out for use.

You can use the Deks PVC Trap Dishwasher Outlet Cap which is designed for this specific purpose.

Let me know what you think and if you have any further questions, don't hesitate to ask.

Jacob
