Re: How to stop laundry waste pipe leaking?

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @Agnes. It's wonderful to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about stopping a leak.

The easiest way to stop this leak would be to replace the washer in the mini cistern cock. It's the little chrome tap that the blue hose connects to. Start by turning your mains water supply off. Next, there is a screw on the top of the handle that, when undone, you'll be able to pull the handle off. Under it, you'll find the tap spindle, this can be removed via the nut. Inside the tap, you'll replace the valve.

I don't actually know what this length of pipe is for. It could have been a secondary hose for a previous washing machine, the main hose for the washing machine that was cut when the previous occupants left, or some type of flush pipe to remove sediment from the water line. However, I can tell you that a plumber has spent some time creating it, and I feel it's better to replace the valve and stop the leak than to mess around with it and try to remove it.

Please let me know if you have any questions.
