How to seal gap on shower floor?
Hi all,
I just moved into a place a couple months ago and just noticed in the shower area, there's a gap between 2 tiles in the corner of the floor.
Is there a way that I can seal it or just close the gap with some sort of gel ?
I'm quite concerned as I don't know what happen if water gets through the gap, goes under, and just can't exit anywhere. I checked the other side of the glass of the shower area, I don't see any visible gaps so I'm guessing the water might just be stuck under neath.
Please let me know any advice, I'm quite new to home maintenance. Thanks in advance!

Re: How to seal gap on shower floor?
Hi @nhl123456,
A warm welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community and thank you for your question.
It looks like there is no grout between the two tiles. You'll want to replace the grout to stop water from flowing into that gap.
I'd suggest grabbing a toothbrush or Sabco Soft Grip Grout Brush, spraying some CLR Bathroom And Kitchen Cleaner in the gap, then giving it a good scrub to clean it up. It would also be worthwhile while you are at it, to give the rest of the grout a good clean.
When the old grout and the gap between the tiles are clean, grab some Dunlop Ready-To-Go Coloured Grout in the colour that matches closest to the rest of the grout and apply it along the gap. Use a lightly damp sponge to smooth and tidy up the new grout.
This will fill the gap and prevent water from building up in the space, which will get dirty over time if left open.
Once dry, you can also apply some Dunlop Grout Sealer to keep the grout looking brand new for longer.
Let me know if you have any further questions.

Re: How to seal gap on shower floor?
Hi @JacobZ ,
Thank you very much for the detailed response - I will give that a try.
Just curious how long should I wait after applying the grout and similarly after applying the sealer ?
Is there anything I need to do to dry the gap (if there's any water inside) - I can't tell if there's any existing water either.

Re: How to seal gap on shower floor?
Hello @nhl123456
I suggest giving the grout at least 48 hours to cure or longer depending on the humidity in the bathroom. The grout has to be 100 percent dry with no residual moisture trapped inside before you apply the sealer. Sealing the grout too early will result in the sealer fogging up or in a worst-case scenario peel off. Make sure to keep the door and windows open to promote air circulation in the shower area. The sealer should cure in around 24 hours depending on the weather conditions.
If you need further assistance, please let us know.
Eric
