How to replace water-damaged drawer in bathroom?

If you can track down a model number or identify the brand of the product, you may be able to contact the supplier for a replacement drawer front as it seems like that's all you'll need to replace.

If you can't identify the specific product, the drawer front appears to be MDF wrapped in vinyl.

My suggestion is to replace it with a piece of moisture-resistant MDF that is the same thickness, which can be cut to size and then wrapped in Boyle Self Adhesive Film - White Gloss before reattaching it to the rest of the drawer.

Thankyou. Can I get it both cut and wrapped at the store. I couldnt see the make or model number in the cabinet anywhere

Hi @jessd,

MDF can be cut, but there are some restrictions on dimensions. Cuts that place the cut shop operator's hand within 300mm of the saw blade are not allowed.

Unfortunately, vinyl wrapping is not a service that stores offer. You will have to wrap the drawer face at home.

I'd suggest you bring the drawer face in-store with you to compare the vinyl before committing to your purchase.

I can't say that I've done it myself, so I can't give an honest opinion on its difficulty.

Allow me to tag some of our helpful members to see if they have any experience with this, @Dave-1, @Nailbag, @Jewelleryrescue.

With any task I am learning and implementing for the first time, I always find a visual example helps me to wrap my head around things.

My suggestion would be to look for a guide on YouTube. If you search for vinyl wrapping MDF, you should find some comprehensive guides that can assist you in learning this skill.

Id like to say Howdy and welcome you to the Bunnings community pages Definently a good question to start with! 

I have two suggestions you could try

First one is to take the water damaged drawer into a kitchen flatpack place and see if they can replace the vacumed sealed front (check out yoru lcoal area for kitchen builds, I have seen a few around my area so suspect there will eb a few around most light industrial areas) 

Second one, instead of trying to match the one drawer, mybe go for replaceing all the drawers in that carcus? So the three drawers you have, replace all three with new ones that will fit that spacing. Measure the top to bottom, width and depth and then wander into Bunnings. Their kitchen area staff may be able to help you match what you have as clse as you can.

Hi @jessd firstly what caused the water damage as that needs to be rectified first. Looking at the photos there appears to be still considerable water still over the bench top, cabinet and floor. Swelling of the drawers would take several hours to get to the state shown.

Without seeing the entire situation first hand, my thoughts from the photos is that more than the drawers will be compromised. Unless the vanity has been built from one of Bunnings kits or from a known cabinet maker, then unfortunately there won't be an easy replacement option as nothing is standard other than larger scale dimensions. Cabinet makers aren't interested in small replacement items and the ones that might will be very expensive.

So, in other words it may be more applicable, quicker and easier to replace the entire vanity. These are available in a wide range of very affordable pre-made options with and without basin and tap-ware in case you want to re-use the current ones from Bunnings and other bathroom retailers.

If you could supply a photo of the vanity itself we could offer further advice.
