Re: How to replace toilet seat?

Hello @gloved

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us and thanks for sharing your question about your toilet seat.

The stainless-steel toilet seat post can be adjusted by removing its cover cap. Simply hold the sides of the cover and lift it up firmly. Once you have the cover cap removed you'll see the screw holding the post to the toilet pan. It will either need an Allen key or a Philips screwdriver to loosen up. Under no circumstances are you to remove the screw out of the assembly as parts might fall inside the toilet pan which you'll never be able to retrieve. Your goal is to loosen the screw so that you can adjust the post position.

Once you have made loose both sides, position the posts so that that they are in line with the toilet seat holes. Push the toilet seat down so that it clicks into place. Lower the seat down into the closed position and adjust the seat so that it is centred to the toilet pan. Gently open the toilet seat without moving its position. Get your Allen key or screwdriver and tighten the screws of the posts. Once they are fixed in place press the release button of the seat and put the cover caps back on and re-install the seat.

If you have any other questions we can help with, please let us know.

Thank you for your quick response, Eric.

I removed the screw completely because the rubber base was damaged.

So what should l do now?

Re: How to replace toilet seat?

Hi @gloved

I suggest following the rest of the recommendations in regards to the re-installation of the seat. Make sure the posts are loose, install the seat and adjust the position. Tighten up the screws and then remove the seat to put the cover caps back on then re-install the seat.

If you need further assistance, please let us know.

Re: How to replace toilet seat?

Thank you @EricL, l have tried to do this, l just can't get the alignment right.

Mind you l have put the seat on and off, many times to clean but it is just not working for me.

I will keep trying.

Re: How to replace toilet seat?

Hi @gloved

Please remember that the posts must be loose and easy to adjust, in this manner the seat can be shifted and jiggled into place. Once it is properly centred to the toilet pan that's the time to tighten the screws for the posts. Take your time and don't rush the installation, you'll eventually get to the proper spot.

If you need further assistance, please let us know.
