I have taken off end nut on the tap but can't seem to take off the handle, have used WD40 and have agitated back and fourth. Are there any secrets to these types of taps?
Hello @kbohringer85
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about your shower taps.
If the tap handles are stuck and you have applied the recommended techniques to loosen them and are not working, I suggest using a Haron Tap Handle Puller. This device will anchor onto the sides of the handle and will literally pull the handle off.
If you need further assistance, please let us know.
Eric
Thankyou I will give that a go
I've had no luck trying to remove the old shower taps even with WD40 and the tap puller
Hi @kbohringer85,
I'm sorry to hear that you haven't had any luck with your taps so far.
Do you have any photos you could upload of their current state?
It is possible there is scale buildup that is holding everything in place?
If so, you could try spraying down the centre of the tap with CLR, allowing it to soak and then trying with the tap puller again.
It may also help to vibrate the tap handles while pulling to break apart any scale that could be keeping things in place. You might need a hand with this as you'll need to wrap the taps in a towel to protect them, tap them with a hammer and pull all at the same time.
If this does not help, heat can often help to loosen things up.
If you try everything and don't have any luck, it may be time to call in a plumber.
Let me know what you think.
