How to replace bath faucet?

Hi,

Looking to replace my chrome bath faucet to black hardware. From looking at the faucet the connection looks like it'll be male coming out of the wall, its hard to tell though. But the faucet I have is male.

What's the connection coming out of the wall likely to be?

Any advice woukd be great, before I end up damaging the old faucet and having no bath.

Re: Replace bath faucet - male or female screw

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @danhughes1987. It's marvellous to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about installing a bath spout.

Typically, the connection coming out of the wall for a bath spout is a male fitting, and it certainly looks like it’s a male fitting in your case. Bath spouts usually come with a female fitting for installation, though sometimes they include a male-to-male fitting for situations where there's a female fitting on the wall. You might find that the male-to-male fitting can be removed from your spout, exposing the internal female fitting, which will be ready for installation. You can use pliers to carefully remove the male-to-male fitting from the spout. This will allow you to properly install your new black hardware without damaging the old faucet.

If the male fitting can not be removed and this is one of our bath spouts then I'd be happy to contact the manufacturer for further information.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Mitchell
