How to repair or replace broken tile with floor waste?

Wonder how to repair or replace the broken tile with floor waste? If gonna replace the tile, how to transfer the exact hole location from the old tile to the new one?

Re: how to repair or replace the broken tile with floor waste

Hi @helloeatty,

You could try filling it with epoxy putty. Once dry, you can paint the putty to match the surrounding tile as closely as possible, but keep in mind that this won’t be an invisible repair.

If you have a spare tile, replacing it would be the best solution. To transfer the exact hole location from the old tile to the new one, a simple method is to create a paper template. Cut a sheet of paper to the same size as the tile and place it over the damaged one. Rub around the floor waste opening to create a crease, then trace over it with a pen to make the outline clearer. Cut out the marked area, place the template over the new tile, and transfer the marking. To cut out the hole, you’ll likely need a Dremel with a diamond cutting blade.

If you're not confident in replacing the tiles yourself, I'd suggest enlisting the services of a tiler to assist.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Mitchell
