We had thick vinyl on our walls of our toilet and are wondering how best to remove the glue left behind? Hoping we don’t have to regib the whole bathroom to save money. I’ve tried wallpaper steamer yet that didn’t budge.
thanks!
Hello @Tcaitlin
Thanks for sharing your question about removing vinyl glue on your wall. I suggest using an orbital sander with an 80grit sandpaper pad, this should be able to strip the glue right off the wall. However, if you notice that the sander is struggling the next step up is to use a belt sander with the same sandpaper grit. Please note that the belt sander is very powerful and can eat into the surface of your wall, make sure to use with care and safety in mind.
Please make sure to use personal protection such as disposable overalls, gloves, goggles and a mask when using the sanding tools. My best advice is to cover the toilet with painters drop sheet and sealed with masking tape to prevent it from moving. Keep in mind that this activity will generate a lot of sanding dust so keep the windows open to allow air to circulate in the room.
