I have a spa with a Mamoli tap, however it is leaking whenever I turn it on.
I want to fix it or replace it but don't know how to remove it from the spa. and I cannot see any screws around it
Please help.
Hi @quynhpham55,
It sounds like the mixer cartridge needs to be replaced. Generally, the disassembly process for mixer taps begins by locating a hidden grub screw which, once undone, allows you to remove the handle and access the cartridge. In the image below, the grub screw is hidden behind a little press-fit plastic button that pops off, allowing access. Search for something like this on your tap. Occasionally, I've seen these grub screws hidden under the handle shroud and they only became evident once the handle is lifted into the full on position.
Have a look around the tap and update us if you see anything that suspiciously looks like an access point.

Hi, I am able to remove the top plastic cover by lift it up and no grub screw. I am trying to undo the big screw but when doing that I found the water outlet also moving. I cannot unscrew more than half turn. Please help.
It looks like you've managed to remove the top black plastic cover @quynhpham55. The large nut you are trying to unscrew does appear to be the next step. What happens if you rotate the spout over to the right-hand side full extreme? It would have nowhere else to go and shouldn't turn anymore. Alternatively, I'd assume that you or someone else needs to hold the spout in position whilst you undo the nut. Careful that you top snap something in the process. Do you have any WD-40 that you could spray around the threaded section? That could help loosen the tap.
If you're still struggling, you might like to contact the manufacturer to see if they have some instructions available for the taps disassembly.

Hi, I did spray WD40 and turn the sprout to the right as you mentioned, but I still cannot unscrew the the big screw. I will try again later.
Thanks
Allowing that WD-40 sometime to penetrate is likely a good idea.
Let me mention some of our knowledgeable members @TedBear, @tom_builds, @Brad and @Noyade to see if they have any thoughts.

Hi @quynhpham55
I'm a lousy plumber but I have an unused Estilo mixer-valve which I took outside and 'played' with. It would appear to remove that hexed component it relies entirely on the anchorage of the tap - below the sink. I don't have this - so I viced the package end.
The spout spins 360 degrees and plays NO part in removing the mixer. Admittedly, mine is brand new and it offered no resistance in removing.
Clearly yours needs time for the WD 40 to soak - and maybe more grunt? An excellent lubricant is WD 40 Specialist Fast Release Penetrant - a little more expensive than the usual WD-40.
I used a 30mm rigid spanner for a good grip - I don't trust shifting wrenches on brass - I have stripped fittings.
To me - you can remove the lever in your photo and get the "ring" end of the spanner onto it - for a much better grip.
I can hear plumbers around Australia laughing at me!
That is interesting and very useful information @Noyade.
Usually older taps are stuck due to the build up of corrosion in the threads.
One way for @quynhpham55 to loosen it, after the WD40 soaking, is to use a well fitting spanner and tap the end of it in the direction to undo it (CCW).
Not a big hit... not trying to destroy anything here, but a short-sharp tap to break the grip of the thin build up of corrosion and allow it to turn.
(If it doesn't move it, bigger hits are not a good idea; instead respray WD40, wait again, try a sharp tap again. The initial tap will likely open up the corroded bits enough to let the WD40 get in further on the second application.)
Hi, according to the manufacturer ( from Italy) the faucet had been discontinued several years ago and no suitable cartridge available. I decide to replace the whole thing with something in Australia.
Hi @quynhpham55
It's good to hear that you've managed to sort out your spa tap issue. It's a shame that there are no more spare parts for your tap as you were well on your way to disassembling the tap and getting the cartridge out. I was looking forward to seeing you successfully remove the large locking ring. Would it be possible for you to post a photo of your new spa tap installed? Any extra installation tips you can share would be much appreciated. Thank you so much for the update.
We look forward to seeing your next D.I.Y. project.
