Re: How to patch this wall?

Hi @stovie,

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. We're pleased to have you join us and trust you'll get loads of help and inspiration for all your projects around the house and garden.

Could you please share a little bit of detail about the damage to your wall and what are your plans?

I assume there was a mirror here that was glued to the wall. Has there been any damage to the plasterboard or are we simply looking at paint that has been removed? Do you simply want to repaint the wall?

Many thanks,

Jason

Re: How to patch this wall?

My bad Jason, I thought I wrote a spiel but I also can't see it! Yes, removed a glued on mirror and want a smooth finish, in preparation for painting and placing another mirror - not sure what style or if we will hang it (if smaller) or glue it just yet.

Thanks!

Re: How to patch this wall?

Hello @stovie

Thanks for sharing your question about patching up your wall. The general steps will be to sand down the wall and remove all the adhesive that was left on the wall. You just need to rough up the surface, but there is no need to go very deep into the painted surface of the wall. Once the all the adhesive has been removed wipe down the surface with Sugar Soap Wipes to remove all the sanding dust.

Use a multipurpose filler to fix any deep gouges on the surface of the wall. Your goal is to fill only what you need so that you don't have to sand a great deal off. Once the filler cures sand it down to the level of the wall. Wipe the surface clean again and the final step will be to prime and paint the surface

Here are some handy step-by-step guides:

Please make sure to wear personal protection such as gloves, goggles and a mask when working on your project.

If you need further assistance, please let us know.
