hi i'm installing new villaboards in the bathroom. the walls will be tiled. should i use cement board nails or screws? i'm worrried the nails might be too weak to hold up the wall with heavy tiles, on the other hand, the screw head seems quite big for 6mm villaboard.
can you please advise which is better and what size i should choose?
thank you
Hi @saleens281,
Thank you for your question regarding installation of Villaboard in a tiled application.
With the installation of a sheet product like this, it is always best to follow the manufacturers recommendations which can be found in the Villaboard Lining Installation Guide.
James Hardies recommended fastener for Villaboard to timber frames is 30 x 2.8mm Galvanised Fibre Cement Nails.
Ensure you closely follow the installation guide to ensure you have a strong and warrantable repair.
Let me know if you have any further questions.
