How to install new bath with rounded ends?

We sourced a fiberglass bath with rounded ends. It's not squared off like the baths available.

It needs to go into an alcove in the bathroom.

The tiler says he cannot install it.

Is it because he cannot cut curved tiles to fit around the top?

Re: New bath with rounded ends

Hi @KarynM,

It sounds like there may be a few factors at play, and it’s not entirely clear what the issue is. It could be that the rounded ends of the bath don’t align well with the square walls of the alcove, making it difficult to tile neatly around the top. Another possibility is that the tiler may only be responsible for the tiling part of the job and not the actual installation of the bath itself. It’s also possible that the unique shape of the bath makes waterproofing or installation challenging in your specific setup.

Given the variety of potential reasons, I would suggest having a conversation with your tiler to clarify exactly what the issue is. They should be able to explain why they feel the installation is not possible, and from there, you can explore other solutions or adjust the installation plan accordingly.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Re: New bath with rounded ends

I suspect that cutting and tiling around the round edges would be the issue as he was going to install  it.

Would it be better to get another tilers opinion 🤔

Re: New bath with rounded ends

Possibly @KarynM. Without a full understanding of the issue at hand, it's a bit hard to provide an answer. If it's just that he doesn't want to have to cut tiles to suit, I would suggest you'd likely be able to find a tiler that would. Obviously, intricate cutting of tiles to suit might incur a higher cost.
