Hi, I recently bought a new house. It has laundry room with the size 2.95mx1.6m. It looks empty just with standard metal laundry cabinet on one end. So I am looking to install cabinets so that it has some storage. I have few questions before getting quote
1. Do we have to remove the existing tub and install the cabinets.
2. can I go just with wood bench top rather than stone one just to reduce the cost.
3. Do I have to add tiles to wall or just leave it as it is. At the moment tiles are there just in front of metal cabinet.
Hello @prashb
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's fabulous to have you join us, and thank you for sharing your question about your laundry renovation.
Congratulations on acquiring your new house! In regards to your laundry, if the laundry tub is still in good condition and has no rust spots on it, there is no need to remove it. Depending on the space that will be left behind after installing the washing machine, it's possible to install cabinets right next to it.
In regards to the timber benchtop, you can definitely use a timber top if you wish to. Just remember that it must be sealed in polyurethane all around to protect it from moisture damage.
If you don't wish to put tiles at the moment you can choose to leave the wall as is. However, I recommend putting a temporary cover such as Hanwood 3D White Herringbone Peel And Stick Tile. They look convincingly real, and you'll probably need two boxes to cover that area.
I've placed a sample sketch below to give you an idea of what the laundry could possibly look like. Please have a look and tell me what you think.

Hi @EricL ,
Thanks for the reply. The laundry tub is brand new one so i think i will keep it as it is as per your suggestion.
I am planning to get the cabinets installed from Bunnings. Mostly I am looking for the design as in the attached picture with the taller cabinet will be something like Flatpax broom cupboard and the rest will be normal cupboards for the storage. Currently all my wet areas have marmoro white tiles to walls. so i am planning to go for the tiles which almost matches and the benchtop should be in white just to match the rest of the house.
Can you please provide me the rough estimate how much i have to spend in total for the design in the picture including installation.
Note: currently the builder has installed one row of tiles to wall, just above the ground to the side where cabinets have to be installed. so there will be an extra work to remove the tiles. Size of the laundry is 2.95mx1.6m.
Hello @prashb
I've placed an updated sketch below along with the cabinet list. I recommend proceeding to your local store and speaking to your In-Store Kitchen Specialist. Show them the plan and ask them for a quote on installation. Please keep in mind that if you are after similar cabinets to the picture you posted, you'll need to use the Kaboodle Cabinetry System.
Flatpax cabinets:
The total for the cabinetry is currently $1,340.00. Please make sure to double check the prices when you purchase the cabinets at the store.
