Hello, my bathroom was recently renovated. They had to stud the walls, install new dry wall and tile over it.
My question is, what kind of plugs should I use to hang a wall shelf similar to the one pictured.
Photos attached for reference.
Stud wall
New dry wall
Tiled walls
Shelf I want to put up.
Thank you
Hi @bhushan154,
That might be a bit of a difficult one due to the cavity. You could either use plugs in the tiles and backing board, which should work but it's not ideal. Or, you could drill through the tiles and backing board and into the brickwork behind. However, it could be very difficult to insert the plugs right back into the brick, and then you would need some quite long screws to reach them.
It would be great if you could use expanding toggles to grip the back of the backing board, but I don't know if your 19mm cavity will allow enough space for them to expand.
If you are only going to be keeping light-weight items in the cabinet, then plugs into the tile and backing board would likely be the easiest option.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
