We live in a rental and the bathroom vanity smells really damp. We’ve given it a thorough clean, sprayed with Glen 20 but it still smells. No visible signs of mould or damp. Any ideas or help to get rid of smell please?
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @elizamcmahon. It's terrific to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about your smelly vanity.
If a good airing out and the Glen 20 doesn't get rid of the damp smell, then there is likely a leak that is being concealed. It could be a slow leak from the tapware that is being absorbed by the vanity's timber work. That'll give you a constant wet smell and will be un-noticeable until the timberwork starts to expand.
You can place some DampRid in the cupboard to try and draw out any trapped moisture. You could also try Peerless JAL 750ml Attack Odour Neutraliser to see if it can remove the smell.
Give the DampRid and odour neutraliser a go and see if it clears up. You might also want to give the real estate a heads-up on the possibility of a leak. I'm sure the owner would like to know if damage is potentially being done to the property.
