80’s house, severe water damage and old techniques for tiling. Ideas for removal of adhesive on inside of pan?
Also deeper channels along walls? Best to screed over these?
Ignore tile edges, haven’t removed flooring yet as focused on drying out water damage & will remove to water proof
Any advice greatly appreciated
Hi @makingmesses,
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop Community!
I'd be starting with something like the Masterfinish 300mm Floor Scraper to remove the old tile adhesive. If this proves ineffective, you may need to grind off the old tile adhesive using something like the Full Boar 125mm 40 80 120 Grit Zirconia Flap Disc 3 Pack.
If you end up needing to grind the old tile adhesive off, make sure that you are wearing the correct PPE (protective eyewear, gloves, ear protection, mask/respirator) as you will be creating a lot of dust.
Once all the old tile adhesive is gone, you would want to fill the channels by the walls up to the same level using something like Dunlop 5kg Ardit Rapidset Repair Mortar.

It's great that you've received excellent advice from @JacobZ95. Just a friendly reminder to make sure that your waste pipe is in the correct spot and at the correct height when you start screeding as adjusting the waste is much more difficult once you've tiled over the area.
