We recently noticed a small leak coming from the back of our toilet. Upon further inspection the leak appears to be coming from where the waste pipe meets the toilet. Would fixing this leak require a new pan collar? Would we need to move the toilet in order to install the new collar?
Hello @Penguin27
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's marvellous to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about your leaking toilet pan collar.
You're absolutely correct, the part that has failed is called the Holman 100mm DWV Rubber Pan Collar. If the toilet pan has not been pushed in too deeply into the collar it might be possible to slip the old rubber ring out and slip the new one in without having to disassemble the toilet pan.
However, if there is not enough space, the pan will need to be removed in order to replace the rubber pan collar. My best advice is to be careful when removing the plastic pan collar locking ring. It sometimes turns brittle and is easily broken. If it should happen, you'll need to replace it with a Holman 100mm DWV PVC Standard Pan Collar Set.
If the repair appears to be too difficult, I suggest engaging the services of a registered plumber.
