How to fix a Mondello Rococo toilet seat?

I have two Mondello Rococo toilets in my house, both over 5 years old, and we have had constant issues with the screws for the toilet seat coming loose.

It's now at the stage where I can't tighten the screws at all - there's hardly anywhere to get any purchase on the washers. A really bad design but surely there's got to be a way to tighten them?

Re: Fix a Mondello Rococo Toilet Seat

Hello @iang

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. it's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about Mondella Rococo toilet seat.

I'm sorry to hear that the toilet seat has come loose. I suggest trying this technique to tighten the hinge posts on your toilet seat. You'll notice that there are two silver buttons on the interior of the toilet seat (one of them is visible on your first photo). I recommend pressing these buttons at the same time, as you are pressing the buttons grab hold of the seat and lift it upwards. If it still catches on the post press deeper to activate the release latch on the toilet seat.

Once you've successfully removed the seat, the only thing left on the pan will be the toilet seat posts. These posts have a white plastic cover on them and all you need to do is to hold these covers at the side and lift them up. Once you've lifted the covers off, you'll see the stainless screw that is holding the toilet seat posts in place. Now it could be a Philips screwdriver fitting or an Allen key fitting all you need to do is to turn the screw clockwise to tighten it up. Under no circumstances are you to turn it anticlockwise as this will push the locking screw off and you'll need to change the entire seat.

Before you tighten the screws, please pay close attention to the position and distance of the toilet seat posts. They must line up with the toilet seats installation holes. I recommend making the posts semi-firm but not overly tight so that you can test the seats position before you tighten them on at full strength.

If you have any other questions we can help with, please let us know.
