How to fix Caroma Uniset toilet leak?

Caroma Uniset.jpgI’ve replaced both the inlet and outlet washers on my Caroma Uniset yet it leaks a lot from the bottom of the grey tube on the right into the pan, even when the tap is turned off at the wall.

When I lift the rocker arm up high, placing pressure downward, where the new inlet washer now is, the leak stops.

Is this somehow the problem? Can you help with my next step? Thanks gurus!

Apologies for the skewed pic, can't seem to right it...

Re: How to fix Caroma Uniset toilet leak

Hi @Easy1520,

A warm welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community and thank you for your question.

Can I trouble you to remove the outlet valve and show us how the washer at the base of it is sitting?

Considering that the water is leaking into the pan and when you apply pressure to the rocker arm it stops, it seems likely that the outlet washer is the culprit.

It sounds like it is not seated correctly or there is some debris that is preventing it from sealing correctly. If you are confident it is the correct size, I'd suggest you inspect the outlet seal and the hole at the bottom of the cistern and remove any debris you find.

Allow me to tag @Jewelleryrescue and @Dave-1 to see if they have any ideas on what to do from here.

Let me know how you go.

Jacob

Managed to move the washer into a better position using detergent and noticed how it fits better under the clear plastic now. Still having the same leaking problem though. Will persevere....Arggh! lol

Thanks Jacob

Looks like I've failed outlet washer replacement 101. The area beneath is clean and free of debris. Any tips on getting this little devil in place properly? It seems to have a mind of its own! I watched some youtube vids and some suggest using liquid detergent.

Thanks for your help.

Cheers :smile:IMG_20250222_175328_1.jpg

Re: How to fix Caroma Uniset toilet leak

Evening @Easy1520

Mmmmm when I have had a similar leak and also when I have had washers fail on the top I have ended up changeing over the whole unit in the end 😕 Its happened twice now where the washer has perished and even if I find a washer that suits it just dosnt seem to work.

I do know that Bunnings stock a universal one. Which is what I have used to eventually solve my problem. Id give it a few more trys but for the time and effort verse getting it fixed and multiple trips back and fourth 😕 Yeah.... I know the frustration well.
