How to fill a damaged brick wall?

Currently going through a bathroom renovation for the first time. Whats the best way to fill these walls before waterproofing and tiling gets done. Pretty new to this. Was thinking expanding foam and/or kwikset. Any suggestions?

Re: Filling a wall

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @mike987654321. It's tremendous to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about repairing walls.

For the best results in preparing your walls for tiling and waterproofing, I recommend a two-step approach based on the type of wall you’re dealing with. The brick wall can be patched by mortaring in some bricks and then using a cement filler to fill in the gaps around the pipes. This should help create a more uniform surface.

However, for the Besser block wall, the most effective method is to sheet it. The rough surface of the besser blocks won’t give a smooth, uniform base for tiling and waterproofing, so installing a wall sheet is essential. Once the sheeting is installed, you can waterproof it and then tile over it. This will ensure the surface is both stable and ready for the final finishes.

Please let me know if you have any questions.
