How to extend the basin waste?

Hi,

I hope someone can help me with the issue. I am replacing my broken basin waste and bought the same style as the previous one. However, I couldn't find the one with the same length, i.e 54mm, only 46mm length was available.  Now I have about 10 mm gap between my waste and the installed pipe. They are both 40mm diameter. Please anyone give me an idea to close this gap? 😢 thank so much in advance!

Re: How to extend the basin waste?

Hello @Hana_DIY

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about your basin waste.

There are a few methods to sort out your plumbing configuration. First is to change your your trap using the Haigh 40mm PVC Telescopic Space Trap. It has a telescopic neck that allows you to adjust its length.

Next is using the Holman 40mm PVC DWV Slab Adaptor, this item is glued onto the PVC waste pipe to allow your trap to move upwards.

The third method is to use a 40mm threaded extender. However, I'll need to double check if this item is still available at the store. As soon as I have more information, I'll get back to you.

Thank you for your patience.

Eric

Re: How to extend the basin waste?

Hello @Hana_DIY

Thank you for waiting, I'm afraid the third option is not available. I was hoping that the 40mm threaded extender was still in stock, but it's no longer available. Aside from what I've mentioned, one other thing you can do is to add an extension to the waste pipe with standard 40mm PVC fittings. I'll leave the choice up to you.

If you need further assistance, please let me know.
