How to cover old toilet bolt holes in floor tiles?

IMG_0509.png

 Hi.

We’ve had new back-to-wall toilets installed and they don’t quite cover the old ‘bolt holes?’ In the floor tiles. If you zoom in you can see the holes have little rubbery blue bits in them. Its there a product I can fill these holes with so it’s not quite so noticeable?

 Thanks

Re: How to cover old toilet bolt holes in floor tiles?

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @Shiesa65. It's terrific to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about filling holes.

To cover old toilet bolt holes in floor tiles, the first step is to ensure the blue plastic fittings are cut down below the surface of the tiles. You can use a retractable knife to carefully trim these fittings, but it's essential to wear cut-resistant gloves and protective eyewear for safety. Be sure to protect the surrounding tiles with a cloth or tape to prevent accidental damage.

Once the blue plastic fittings are trimmed below the tile surface, you can fill the hole with a white epoxy filler. Apply just enough filler to fill the depression, being careful not to overfill it. After the filler has dried, you can sand it down to create a smooth, level surface. It's important to use gentle pressure during sanding to avoid scratching or damaging the surrounding tiles. To protect them, consider using masking tape over the edges of the tiles while sanding.

Finally, you can paint the filled area with a colour that best matches the surrounding tiles. This will help make the repair less noticeable and blend seamlessly with the rest of the floor.

Please let me know if you have any questions.
