I have just moved into a retirement village, and the shower tiles are so bad with soap scum i have tried almost everything to clean it off with no luck. I don't think previous owners cleaned the tiles for many years (they were old) thank you

Hi @deebra,
Thank you for your question.
When you say you've tried everything, I'll assume this includes a cleaner such as White King 750ml Mould & Soap Scum Remover. If not, apply this and scrub it with a Non-Scratch Scourer.
You could also try a light abrasive cleaner like Gumption Paste. Use the same non-scratch scourer to gently work it in a circular motion before cleaning it off with clean water.
If neither of these options works, I suspect what you are seeing might not be soap scum, rather the tiles have been painted in the past and the paint has faded in some areas and hasn't in others. If this is the case, you might need to consider painting the tiles with a suitable paint such as this Dulux Renovation Range Tiles & Benchtops Gloss White.
Allow me to tag @Noyade, @Dave-1 and @Nailbag for their thoughts.
Let me know what you think and if you have further questions, please don't hesitate to reach out.

Good Evening @deebra
Ummm little bit nervous about telling you what I use as everyone says to use a non scratch scourer... I use stainless steel wool and gently scrub away, generaly in circles. With just some scraped soap of the soap block as a helper. I dont go to town with force when using the wool. It hasnt damaged the tiles or grout or even marked the glass.

Hi Jacob,
Yes I have tried them all and it's hasn't been painted. It's very bad soap scum.
Cheers

Hi Dav,
Thank you that's one thing I haven't used. I will give it a go can't any worse than the scum.
Cheers
Deb
Hi @deebra
definitely give the Gumption a go @JacobZ recommends. It's been a go-to product in our family for as long as I can remember. Yes its mildly abrasive, however you're going to need this or something possibly more abrasive if that doesn't work. It wont be a waste of money as you find plenty of other uses. Used gently with a microfibres cloth, I have removed pencil marks of walls from tiny little artists.
There is another product that has a bit more abrasion to it called the Pink Stuff. Ive not used it myself but heard it's very good. I also recommend the Scrub Daddy. It holds it condition extremely well. It's also another go to from burnt sauces in pots to scrubbing dirty work hands clean. Can be used with without cleaners. Not cheap but last for months as they can be dishwasher cleaned. As a last resort, wire wool with Gumption may be an option?

Why goodness thank you. Cheap to do and it actually works but I use gumption. Can't thank you enough. Cheers Deb
