How to change hot water to electricity?

Hi team. In a rental property. Only use hot water to do dishes and for shower.i want to disconnect gas saving me over $1k per year. Boiling kettle for dishes is easy- how do i create shower facilities. I’m assuming I need to DIY, some plumbing and a solar camping or outdoor/tradies shower? Any ideas suggestions or bunnings supply plans you can direct me too?? Current system unreliable gas unit with smart meter landlord won’t replace hot water device so it’s hit and miss.
cheers.

Re: hot water sevice tips

Hi @oiDIY,

Before making the switch, it’s worth considering that heating water with electricity—especially using a kettle—could end up costing just as much as using gas, depending on your energy rates. However, if your goal is to eliminate gas altogether, reducing hot water use in the shower would likely have the biggest impact on savings.

We have a range of camping showers that could work for you. A solar shower bag is a simple, low-cost option—you’d just need to extend the hose so you can heat the water outside in the sun and then bring it in to use with your existing shower space. If you want a bit more convenience, you could look into rechargeable or battery-powered pump showers that can be used with a bucket of pre-heated water.

Please let me know if you have any questions.
