G’day everyone. I would like some advice about how to attach a wooden hook to the back of a hollow bathroom door. The hook, as seen in the photo, already has an 8-gauge screw embedded in to it.
Hi @olitim
I used a stained timber board across my bath room door to hang stuff on with 3 hooks on it with a bit of builders glue this spread the weight to a large surface area.
Yours being a single hook Maybe

@JacobZ will have the ideal hollow door option I am know he will chime in and assist here
Or
For $20 approx you can buy wall hooks of many types on a board and simple use double sided tape or builders liquid nails and it will with stand good weights, MANY hook types.
Hi @olitim,
Thank you for your question about hanging a hook from a hollow core door.
The best way to do this is to screw a piece of timber such as this 42 x 19mm 1.2m DAR Pine Standard across the face of the door, utilising the timber around the edges of the door to anchor it in place. You can then screw the hook into this timber.
I have used the Ramset Nylon WallMate Plasterboard Anchors that @Jewelleryrescue has mentioned to hang a hook from a hollow core door in my own home.
It's not a perfect solution, as it transfers the weight of anything hung from the hook into the MDF veneer that is used on hollow core doors, but it has worked for me for some time.
Let me know if you have any further questions.
